TWO FRIENDS, ONE MISSION
We are two friends and together we form the team behind TARPREC ApS. TARPREC is an abbreviation of the words 'tarpaulin recycling' and is the core business of the company. In the summer of 2017, Luan and Harun got the idea to start a recycling business after a visit to Switzerland, where they discovered the potential of the material. We have known each other most of our lives and we have often discussed man-made environmental problems. This is our opportunity to help make a difference to the environment. The company was founded by two friends, Luan and Harun. The name TARPREC is a compound word stemming from “Tarpaulin” and “Recycling”. And in the late summer of 2017, with the name in hand, we had an idea to start a recycling business after an insightful visit to Switzerland, where we discovered the potential of the material. We have known each other most of their respective lives and have often discussed man-made environmental problems. This was their opportunity to make a positive, lasting impact on the environment. As the international demand for the material was high, we decided to seek out partners in Denmark. We had neither the experience nor the capital to achieve such a venture at the beginning, and thus drove the country thin in search of partners to build stock. We managed to collect hundreds of covers that we sent to their overseas partners. In the middle of this madness, with limited means of transport, we managed to fit 6 full truck tarpaulins into a Citroën C1! Before too long, we had discovered that there was great interest in the idea of recycling and upcycling tarpaulins. Initially we began only in Denmark, but with the large interest in the idea, we quickly expanded to other Scandinavian, and later European, countries. Over time, we were able to acquire an 800m2 warehouse where the tarpaulins could be collected, cleaned and recycled.
That is why we are incredibly happy that we are making a difference alongside out partners. We also want to see more transport and logistics companies joining the journey. We do not see TARPREC as just a business, but rather a life project that will ultimately benefit all of us as humans.
